If I were one of Santa's reindeer...

You Are Vixen
Sexy and sultry, you're the one all the other reindeer dream about.

Why You're Naughty: That fur pulling spat you got into with Dancer over Santa.

Why You're Nice: Because even when you're nice, you're still delightfully naughty!

House Delayed AGAIN!
Written by Marc
Thursday, 09 November 2006

Well our new home was delayed again.  Erin and I picked up a letter on the weekend that says our confirmed occupancy date is now February 9th.  Previously, we'd had a letter that said our new tentative closing date was January 12th.  There are some legal parts in our agreement with the builder that says they have to notify us within a certain time period (90 days) for any changes to the tentative closing date.  Since this letter was sent less than 90 days out Erin and I may be entitled to some sort of compensation for the extra rent we'll be paying in the interim.  I'm not sure about all of this, so I have to call the lawyer to see what can be done.

Either way, because of the delay Erin and I have decided to go ahead and get some of our planned new furniture now.  We're sick of waiting, and we're going to replace the pieces of furniture we've wanted to replace the most - our couches.  So this weekend we'll be making a trip to IKEA and buying some new leather couches (ones who's butt pillows don't slide out all the time) for our apartment.  Yay!

Neverwinter Nights 2 - First Impressions

Ninja Edit: I've added a bunch of flash videos I created of game-play.  I'll be adding more as I shoot more.  You can see these on the second page of this article.

Erin (awesome wife or awesomest wife?) bought me Neverwinter Nights 2 for my birthday.  Since she'd gotten her present early when it was her birthday I was lucky and got to start playing this on November 1st.  I've played for several hours already and have some first impressions of the game.  This isn't really a review of the game, more just my thoughts on how it runs, controls and things like menus.  The game is fun though.

My Life, As It Is

Last night I reflected on how my life has changed over the past few years.  Friday night I had the opportunity to go to a Halloween party with some friends from work.  I was intrigued at first, but then realized how much drinking would probably be involved.  I have a lot of problems with drinking alcohol lately; if I have even one beer my blood sugar crashes and I'm sick as a dog the next day.  Naturally that makes me hesitant to drink at all.  After enquiring a little bit on what the party would entail I learned that it would be a booze fest at someone's condo followed by a trip to a night club called Mink.  One look at their website told me that it really wasn't my kind of establishment.  After all I'm married now, domesticated and all that.  I should be spending my time at Home Depot looking at flooring and other such things.  Right?

Erin and I watched these yesterday on Youtube.  They're really very funny so I thought I'd post them here for everyone to enjoy.  Some of the Youtube videos couldn't be embedded so I've hosted those files myself.

Useful Firefox Extensions and Tweaks
Written by Marc

With the release of Firefox 2.0 I've spent some time finding some extensions (add-ons) to enhance my browser.  I thought I'd list some of them here for everyone to make use of.  Additionally, I've been learning how to manually edit some of the default Firefox settings so that the browser behaves the way I'd like it to.  It's actually really easy to do, and I'll detail the steps for how to do that here as well.

Firefox 2.0 Released

Firefox 2

Yesterday afternoon the latest version of Firefox was released.  This comes hot on the heals of the longly developed Internet Explorer 7, which I've heard mixed reviews of.  From my personal experience the new Firefox runs even faster than before, it's persevered all of my setting from before while adding some really nice features.  Features such as saving my sessions from before or during a crash.  If it updates something and needs to be restarted you'll be brought back to all the tabs you were looking at before.  It also has a built in spell checker which is really nifty and handy for writing things on this website.

Internet Explorer 7 finally got with the times with it's implementation of tabbed browsing.  Firefox 2.0 simply enhanced the tabs it had before.  Now it'll keep a log of your recently closed tabs so you can reopen them in case you closed something by accident.   I'm a huge fan of this latest iteration, read on for a list of the new features in this release.

Erin and I picked up our proofs on the weekend.

They look pretty good, we didn't get digital proofs because that's how Reportage does their bid'ness.

Sid Meier - Different Games
Written by Marc
Monday, 23 October 2006

A lot of times when I think about video games I always think about the same few genres over and over again.  Real time strategy, action, role playing games and sports games.  These are the games that dominate shelf space in stores.  Chances are, if you see a game it'll fall into one of these four categories.  However, Sid Meier and his company Firaxis continually create games that fall outside of standard game types.  Not only are they unconventional, they're some of the most popular, well selling and age appropriate games available.  Not only are his games different, they're most often appropriate for all ages.

Simply put, Sid Meier makes great games.  But beyond that, he makes different games.
