Friday, 07 December 2007

Well Justin, you asked for it and here it is.

They're old but they seem to still be popular.  My two Christmas Mix CDs.  Remember that, when people used to listen to CDs instead of mp3s?  What a crazy bunch we were in the past.

There's no track listing.  I may update that in the future.

No more video games PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marc
Monday, 27 August 2007

Over the past few months I've been using this website as my own personal space to discuss nothing but video games; that really isn't very fair.  See, this website also belongs to Erin, and although she's never been too keen on using it, I imagine me spamming it with nothing but video games has stolen the focus of this webpage away.

So I made a new website .  I'll still be using Marc & Erin to write about games, but I won't be publishing those articles on the front page.  This new page will pull those articles and display them right on the front page.  It's a weird way to doing it, but it's the easiest way for me to manage the information.

"Grown Up" Survey! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marc
Saturday, 28 July 2007
I stole this from Gene and Sue.

(Meant to be completed by those out of high school)
Tired of all of those surveys made up by high school kids?
'Have you ever kissed someone?'
'Missed someone?'
'Told someone you loved them?'
'Drank alcohol?'
Here are 50 questions for the people who are a little more "mature"...

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
My credit card bill. I know I use it more than I should, but it's always a surprise just how much that is.

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
The Gladstone Hotel.

3. Last time you puked from drinking?
A week ago. :( Stupid Anaemia

4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
Clark Hall Pub, three years ago. Although that was on a mantle over the fire place. Not the bar.

5. Name of your first grade teacher?
Mrs. Carey

6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Spending time at home with Erin and my puppies. Or goofing off on my PC at home.

7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I wanted to be a surgeon. But then my hands started shaking.

8. How many colleges/universities did you attend?
One - Queen's University.

9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
First one that caught my eye, and Erin had just ironed it yesterday.

10. GAS PRICES?
My car's not bad on gas. And I try and ride my scooter whenever I can. With a 5L tank I can get to work and home 3 times before having to fill it up.

11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you?
The Beaches. Erin.

12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
OH GOD! The ALARM!

13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
Everything's going to be alright.

14. Favorite style of underwear?
La Senza - Boxer Briefs

15. Favorite style of underwear for the opposite/same sex?
No thongs. Lace is nice but any old thing will do, as long as they aren't granny panties.

16. What errand/chore do you despise?
Vacuuming. It's the longest chore and I get so hot doing it.

17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer?
I doubt it. I might work part time, or I'd go back to school part-time.

18. Get up early or sleep in?
Sleep in if I can.

19. What is your favorite cartoon character?
Fry

20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
Chill out, cuddle and talk.

21. Have you found real love yet?
Yes

22. When did you first start feeling old?
When I threw out my back.

23. Favorite 80's movie?

Britain's Got Talent Finals PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marc
Monday, 18 June 2007

Well the finals were tonight, and as everyone probably predicted, Paul Potts won it.

You can see his final winning performance right here:

and the winning annoucement here as well

Of particular interest to me is Simon telling Paul that by next week he'd be in a recording studio recording his debut album.  (And is it just me or did Simon's eyes look a little misty during that last performance).  This is on top of the 100,000 pounds he won, and being able to perform in front of the queen.

If you're interesting in checking out the other finalist's performances you can do so on YouTube here.

Seriously.  Those two kids were amazing, and great singers.  I don't know how this competition works, but if three people get to sing or perform for the queen, they should be two of them.  But after this guy, I don't think they stand a chance of winning.

Paul Potts, a cell-phone salesman from Wales who's only ambition is to sing Opera.  My prediction, he'll get to do just that, he'll be on Oprah in September and he'll open the London Olympic games in 2012.

This kid is just amazing.  I imagine that she'll win the whole competition.

This boy was also very good, but I was more impressed with the six year old.

Erin and I went to Woof Stock today, along with the dogs of course.  It was pretty good, even though the dogs got hot and tired after a short period of time.  I took the camera with me and took some pictures of the event.

I've also uploaded the pictures from my annual camping trip with my friends from university.

As always, click on the images to be brought to that album.

Great Long Weekend PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marc
Tuesday, 22 May 2007

Erin and I had a great long weekend, filled with lots of good stuff.

Starting on Friday, I was able to finally pick up my new video card to finish of my new PC.  I also discovered that I didn't need to reinstall Windows and could "repair" the install I already have; migrating all of my installed programs from the old PC to the new one.  It runs like fucking silk now.  I can play all my games with the settings cranked to the max and a consistent frame-rate of at least 40 Frame Per Second.  FEAR, one of the most demanding FPS games, has a min/avg/max frame-rate of 44/100/240, with everything at maximum.

Saturday was even more fun.  We went to the beaches and we bought Erin a scooter .   It's a little Honda Jazz, and she'll be using it to get to and from work.  It's got a 50cc engine, and although it's only made for one person I'm still going to try and ride on the back.  Erin and I aren't very big so if I can get my ass on there then it'll be all good.  We'd just use it for getting to Bloor St. or the Eaton Centre so it's not like we'll be climbing any hills with it.

Erin will be taking her Motorcycle written test this week (I'll take mine on Saturday) and we'll be picking up the scooter on Saturday.  My dad is really jealous and has said that he'll be on his way to our place as soon as we've picked it up - so that he can take it for a ride.

I'll be brining the camera with me to take pictures of Erin in her pink helmet on her new ride.

On Sunday we had dinner at the Gladstone Hotel and I spotted Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy) doing an interview at another table.  I told Erin to go and say "hello" since she's a fan, but we were too polite and didn't want to bother her.

Monday we went to the Vaughan Mills mall, and as much as I loathe that place we had a pretty good time.  There is a go-kart track and we paid the $20 to take a bunch of laps around.  Good fun, even if some punk kids kept running into Erin.
